Overview

This Zambia tour package covers two of the premier parks in Zambia - The South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi - and Livingstone, home to the spectacular Victoria Falls. The Luangwa Valley, which marks the end of the Great Rift Valley, is one of the last unspoiled wilderness areas and possibly the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa.

The Luangwa River flows into the Zambezi River - just below the Lower Zambezi National Park. This park, scenically bordered by an impressive escarpment, has excellent game, which can be viewed from either the river or by land. Quietly drifting past a huge elephant feeding is a great experience.

Livingstone is home to one of 7 natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls, and offers many opportunities, both adrenaline filled and more sedate, to view this amazing site. There are game viewing opportunities too, with a chance to see the white rhino in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park and river trips on the Zambezi River. Combining these three areas in Zambia gives you an exceptional safari.

Itinerary

Day 1

Victoria Falls Airport transfer to Lodge

Today you fly from Lusaka to Mfuwe (This flight is currently not included in rate). Upon your arrival you will be met and transferred to the Tafika Camp for 3 nights on a full board basis (Road Transfer about 1.5 to 2 hours). The journey is upstream on the Luangwa River. Here lies one of Africa’s richest game areas, a place of great animal densities, and at the heart of it sits Tafika Camp, its six private safari chalets with en suite facilities, built from natural materials around the trunks of stunning sausage trees.

A classic safari lodge inside the South Luangwa NP which offers all the comforts and excellent game viewing. With over 60 mammal and 400 bird species in the area, your hosts offer a mix of game drives and walks to maximise your game viewing experience. Highly qualified guides take you on exciting game drives and share their extensive knowledge of the Zambian bush with you.

Day 5-7

Explore The North on Foot

Mwaleshi Camp, located in the vast wilderness of North Luangwa National Park, is a 30 minute flight from the South Luangwa. You will stay here for 3 nights on a fullbaord basis.

Hidden within a scenic bend of the Mwaleshi River 10km upstream of the confluence with the Luangwa River, the camp is a truly special and remarkable place, unlike any other. With just four thatched chalets rebuilt annually out of natural materials, en suite bathrooms open to the stars and uninterrupted views of the spectacular MwaleshiRiver, the camp offers you a genuine feeling of solitude and seclusion. Life in camp is comfortable yet refreshingly simple.

There are few roads in this remote area and the majority of activities are done on foot, following existing animal trails. All senses become attuned to the surrounding bush as guests experience the variations in the magical diversity of the area. Walkers enjoy the freedom of Africa on foot, accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed scout.

Day 8

Your Journey Ends

After breakfast you fly back to the Mfuwe Airport (40min flight to Mfuwe airport depending on the onward travel plans) and a flight to Lusaka for the end of this tour (this flight is currently not included in rate). If you’d like a couple of nights at Victoria Falls, it is very easy to incorporate into this tour – just ask us.
